NOT over the moon in June!
1st June 2009 to 29th June 2009

A promising start to June with a decent shot of 6L42 on the first of the month, but I was generally too busy to get out and about as much as I`d have liked. When I did get the time, luck typically wasn`t on my side! However, this is what I managed to muster up during June 2009..........

170108 makes a rare appearance on the WCML, and it is seen here passing Nortoft as it makes it`s way from Wolverton works on the 11th of June 2009. This spot used to boast a good northbound shot, but unfortunately lineside trees have got way beyond control, and this poor telephoto shot is the only option at this location. I had no choice as I had literally come off Junction 18 on the M1 only a few minutes prior............ Thanks AC for the nod!

Another dreadful and over-garish livery, made worse by the appalling positioning of 'James_Engine_the' when surely 'James The Engine' would sound and look slightly better! Ok, I`ll stop grumbling now, I`m allowed to be in a bad mood aren`t I?? This is 66414 working 4M71 10:55 Tilbury-Crick (Dirft) and is passing Church Brampton on the 12th of June 2009.

At last, the first 86 photographed since April!!!! Have times really been that bad?? Anyway, here is the lovely 86501 working 4M88 08:49 Felixstowe-Crewe on the 12th of June 2009. She is seen passing Church Brampton, Northamptonshire, just moments before nasty clouds obliterated the sun, but I didn`t care too much as I got what I wanted! At least I went home relatively happy for once!!

It`s rare for me to venture out at weekends, and if I do, I`m unlikely to go chasing after a shed, but that`s exactly what I did do on Saturday the 13th of June 2009. 66522 was reported working 4M87 08:48 Felixstowe-Crewe. With it`s unique livery, made it worth going for I thought, so a short drive to Church Brampton was in order. A shame it wasn`t lime green end first, and hauling only fresh-air though!!

After some friendly chats with the locals, and 3 hours of hard work, I finally found time to photograph 66724 as it heads north at Barby Nortoft with 4M23 10:59 Felixstowe-Hams Hall. 16th June 2009.

No, I`m not a fan of the undercoat livery either, but it was nice to see (and hear) 56311 hard at work. She is photographed here approaching Long Buckby with a late running 4Z92 18:45 Hams Hall-Felixstowe. At this time of day, it`s impossible to get a shot of a southbound working without it being back-lit, and this is probably the best you can get on the WCML!

There`s nothing at all special about this working, but the sun was out......... It`s the boring and every day 4M34 04:36 Coatbridge-'Dirft' working. It is photographed crawling at Barby Nortoft, as in only a few hundred yards, the train will take the line into Dirft itself, which is at Crick, about 7 miles away from Daventry. Everyone knows that it has been over 50 years since a train last visited Daventry don`t they, so the misuse of 'Daventry' to describe this train and it`s destination does tend to annoy me, and justifiably so!

Nothing special about this train, but I do like this 'morning' shot at Lea Marston. 170104 is photographed as it makes its way North. 24th June 2009

It was almost 8pm when 56312 passed me near Long Buckby on the 30th of June 2009. This is 4Z92 18:47 Hams Hall-Dollands Moor. she was working hard and making a lovely sound, despite being on a downhill gradient at this point!
