The first train I aimed for was the 11:00 Shackerstone-Shenton, which was to be fronted by 56040. Here is......... 33019 heading the train as it passes Market Bosworth on the 20th of September 2009. 31130 (31276????) and 31101 working 12:00 Shackerston-Shenton. 20th September 2009 At least I`ll have a second attempt at 56040 as it was also to head the 13:00 Shackerstone-Shenton. Well, it`s a grid, but 56086. It`s a real shame that the BR double arrows have been so poorly applied, being totally the wrong dimensions and thicknesses etc. This detracts from an otherwise magnificent looking locomotive. I suppose I could also moan about those silly advertisement headboards too, but then you`d all think I`m miserable, and I`m really not!! The lovely 47640 was due next with the 14:15 Shackerstone-Shenton, and after approximately 20 minutes after it was due.... my dear Oystermouth finally makes an appearance, albeit sandwiched between 'super-fat logo' and 73114! So, no leading 56040, and no 47! I decided to give up at this point! 20th September 2009 Well, not quite........... Back at Shackerstone Station, 73114 has taken its position in readiness for the 15:45 departure to Shenton, as 56040 (with EXTRA LARGE logo 56086 out of view) carefully take up their positions. 20th September 2009.

However, 7 shots feature here as some kind of record of the day! After three previously thwarted trips to the line, I was hit with more bad luck here at Bishops Itchington. However, I was determind to photograph something, even if it was a Plastic cattle truck! 3rd September 2009 I won`t be entering this into any photographic contest, but for the records, here is 66619 with 6M22 11:56 Westbury VQ-Stud Farm, and is seen apporaching Bishops Itchington on the 3rd of September 2009. 168215 passes Holmes House Farm, Bishops Itchington. 3rd September 2009 47727 and 47739 pass Holmes House Farm on the 3rd of September with 6Z48 Burton-Dollands Moor. The train was running rather late at this point, so I had to settle for this alternative location. On Saturday the 5th of September 2009, I came to Hatton for a Railtour, and also hoped to capture a freightliner while I was here. Despite being there being a very clear sky when I left home, a bank of clouds had started to build up, and as I hate to go home with nothing, an 'at least I got a shot of something' plan was enforced, so here is 168005 as it heads south. It looked like the sun at Hatton was not going to play for us, but it 'just about' managed to clear some thick cloud in time as 'Slim Jim' 33207 appeared with 1Z37 06:45 Worksop-Claydon Junction, via Marylebone, on the 5th of September 2009. I would have been disappointed had 37516 been heading the railtour, but fortunately for me, the growler was at the rear of the train. 92031 'Institute of Logistics & Transport' heads 4O10 12:18 Trafford Park-Southampton, and is photographed approaching Long Buckby the best part of an hour behind schedule. 8th September 2009 86614 and 86639 approach Long Buckby with 4L92 14:03 Ditton-Felixstowe, and running about 25 minutes early at this point, which is a bonus with the light! 8th September 2009. Yes, I went home happy again! At Barby Nortoft, 66434 approaches it`s final destination at Crick with 4M34 04:36 Coatbridge-Dirft. 66168 is in charge of 6A51 11:40 Coventry Prologis-Wembley on the 10th of September 2009. It is seen passing Babry Nortoft. While the Colas 47s may look colourful in their yellow and orange colours, it is, unfortunately, a truly hideous livery! Double Grid! I was waiting patiently at Nortoft for 56312, when I get a message to say the working today was a pair!!! A quick change of location was required, so a quick dash up the M1, then M6, and local roads to Easenhall, followed by a frantic run across the fields, meant I was just able to capture 56312 and 56311 with 4Z91 12:00 Dollands Moor-Hams Hall. Thanks AC for my much needed exercise!! 350250 approaches Church Lawford with a Birmingham service. 11th September 2009. 67022 provides the power as DVT 82302 in Chiltern Railways colours approaches Church Lawford on the 11th of Septmber 2009. 86638 and 86627 are todays motive power for 4L92 14:03 Ditton-Felixstowe, and are seen approaching Milton Malsor on the 11th of September 2009. This Paddington-Worcester HST service, headed by 43151, is photographed passing Norton Junction on the 16th of September 2009. 56311 accelerates away from Norton Junction with 0Z57 13:00 Long Marston-Crewe on the 16th of September 2009. 87014, 87013, 87004, and 86401 are in the consist. As the sun and clouds play silly buggers, another shot of 56311 with 'Knight of The Thistle', 'John O`Gaunt', 'Britannia' (Which has actually been re-united with her nameplates) and 86401 'Northampton Town.' It is beleieved that the 86 will be tripped to Wembley for use as a carriage heater, while the 87`s are on their way for use in Bulgaria. Better than the scrap yard I suppose......... I was in two minds wether or not to include this one........... Not the 'Wrexham' I`d came here for, infact, I`m not sure what happened to 1P13 today, but this is 66536 with 4O27 05:40 Garston-Southampton, and is seen at Bishops Itchington on the 18th of September 2009. 66536 heads 4O27 05:40 Garston-Southampton, and is seen at Bishops Itchington on the 18th of September 2009. 66704 approaches Long Buckby with 4L22 15:16 Hams Hall-Felixstowe. 18th September 2009. 86614 seems to be permanently paired with 86639 at the moment! The pair are approaching Long Buckby on the 18th of September 2009 with 4L92 14:03 Ditton-Felixstowe. It may have escaped me last week, but today I decided for my last attempt this year for 6O63 15:55 Bescot-Dollands Moor, and it is seen approaching Long Buckby on the 18th of September 2009. NOT HAPPY!! I almost binned this shot, as the gaping big blue hole in the clouds turned out to be just a fraction too small!! Running about 5 seconds later than I wanted, 60049 passes Grange farm with 6H50 12:59 Willesden-Tunstead on the 22nd of September 2009 So, after missing 66152 on the water due to being stuck behind the slowest car in the world, being unlucky with 60049, not getting a shot of 86501 due to a shrub that decided to obstruct my view, I was not having a good day! However, I decided not to waste my walk down to Watford village, and took this shot of 350105 as it heads towards Northampton. 22nd September 2009. The freights were playing 'vampires' again today, only passing by under the cover of darkness provided by the clouds! All I have to show for today is 350246 heading south past Church Brampton. 25th September 2009......... At last, a shot that proves that dusty bins in the new London Midland livery do actually run when the sun is out!!! With the WB64 set now in the 'new' virgin colour scheme, it surprises me that many photographers ignore the DVT leading shot. Afterall, it`s the DVT that sports the new colours, not the hired in EWS liveried or Scotrail loco!!! The suitably painted DVT leads 1B44 12:30 Brirmingham-Euston past Barby Nortoft. 7th August 2009 I`m not a fan of 'wire-cutters' but this shot makes a change to my norm, despite the wires here cutting into the locomotive. 66504 hauls 4M58 10:28 Southampton-Crewe BH through Great Brington, Northamptonshire on the 7th of August 2009. I grabbed this shot as I arrived, but the next 4 freights all attracted clouds in a mainly blue sky! Not even the sugar train managed to sweeten things up!!! So after consequtive cloudings over for 4M23, 4M81, 4M88 and 4M71, a much delayed 4H17 Wembley-Trafford Park, with 92017, 92003, and 92036 at the front, finally passes Great Brington, much to the annoyance of a little cloud which didn`t quite make it to thwart my shot! 7th August 2009 1B44 13:00 Brum-Euston speeds through Weedon on the 11th of August 2009. Typically, after class 60 making a welcome return recently on this working, the day I managed to get out for it, then the motive power reverts back to ying-ying power! 66011 works 6H50 11:59 Willesden-Tunstead, and is seen passing Barby Nortoft on the 11th of August 2009. 90029 with 1G27 14:43 Euston-Brum passing Barby Nortoft. 11th August 2009. .......and when you DON`T want a third loco in the consist............ 86612 and 86604 head 4L92 14:03 Ditton-Felixstowe over 15 arches, Briar Hill, Northampton. This spot used to boast a good northbound shot, but unfortunately lineside trees have got way beyond control, and this poor telephoto shot is the only option at this location. I had no choice as I had literally come off Junction 18 on the M1 only a few minutes prior............ Thanks AC for the nod! Another dreadful and over-garish livery, made worse by the appalling positioning of 'James_Engine_the' when surely 'James The Engine' would sound and look slightly better! At this time of day, it`s impossible to get a shot of a southbound working without it being back-lit, and this is probably the best you can get on the WCML! It is photographed crawling at Barby Nortoft, as in only a few hundred yards, the train will take the line into Dirft itself, which is at Crick, about 7 miles away from Daventry. Everyone knows that it has been over 50 years since a train last visited Daventry don`t they, so the misuse of 'Daventry' to describe this train and it`s destination does tend to annoy me, and justifiably so! Donny, 20th May 2009 A dreadful shot, but at least the sun was out for this one, so out of desperation, here`s a 'Nodding Donkey' for you, 142050 at Doncaster on the 20th of May 2009. 185137 is photographed at Doncaster on the 20th of May 2009. Every single freight passed under dark clouds, with the exception of one being bowled! This terrible shot was a last second decison to take this as it was at least not as gloomy as the other passing freights! I had to record SOMETHING you know!!!

On Tuesday morning on the 21st of April 2009, I found out that the 1M16 Inverness-Euston Sleeper passed Winwick over three hours late! With that in mind, I headed out to Whilton Locks, and walked down the Grand Union Canal towards Muscott. Alas, the sleeper was terminated at Crewe, and all I got was this losy tilting thing, 390013............ Oh well, it was a lovely walk! Yet another poorly loaded 4L75 Crewe-Felixstowe, with only three containers, but three more then the previous day! This time was changed in December to 9:55, and I foolishly forgot to check prior to leaving home, and was annoyed at seeing a silver skip passing Deppers Bridge before reaching this location near Bishops Itchington. Oh well, here is 168112. 4th of March 2009. Annoyed at missing the skip, I thought I`d at least wait for the Leeds-Souithampton freightliner. In the meantime, 165034 passes Holmes House Farm, Bishops Itchington. Many of you will be aware that I was in the process of revamping this site prior to the 'fotopic-has-gone' panic earlier on in the year. As is clearly evident, this revamp is continuing, hence the current messy appearance, and temporary folders etc. This will hopefully be sorted out before too long. A First Great Western HST arrives at Oxford. This service terminates here, and will shortly make it`s way back to London Paddington. 3rd December 2008. It was very gloomy at Reading station on the 3rd of December 2008, but as the sun poked through slightly here, a shot of 166217 as it awaits it`s next duty. 67025 and 67017 head 1Z27 Huntingdon-Bristol through Reading station on the 3rd of December 2008. 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley arrives at Reading. The train was to go to Bristol as a 'Cathedrals Express' Despite the gloom, this was an added bonus as we were not expecting any such working! Another one of those 'something a little different' shots! This is Shenfield. 3rd December 2008 By the time we got to Colchester, the sun was already too low, but I thought I`d get a couple of shots for the records if nothing else. 90004 propels it`s train to Norwich, as 47818 is seen approaching in the distance. After having a mud bath at Long Buckby, I thought that it was perhaps a 'lucky' omen, especially when I recieved a message that a pair of 47s were heading south, but it was not to be as all I managed was this 'test' shot of 350125. After waiting and waiting, it become evident that something was wrong, as NOTHING was using the Northampton loop at all............ 2nd December 2008 90047 heads north at Barby Nortoft with 4M81/8?? on the 2nd of December 2008. If I`d have known earlier that freight was routed via the mainline, I`d have found a better location, but time was not on my side and the light was fading fast! The 4th of December 2008, and a much welcomed outing for WB64 Loco-hauled set. 90035 heads the 1G11 12:20 Euston-Birmingham NS, and is seen at speed between Kilsby and Rugby. 390020 speeds south at Barby Nortoft, 4th December 2008 82126 with its recently applied yellow roof leads the WB64 set back south with 1B58 14:00 Birmingham NS-Euston. It is photographed at Barby Nortoft, 4th December 2008 60010 with 6H50 13:10 Willesden-Tunstead passes Grange Farm on the outskirts of Northampton. The SERCO is returning from Northampton. 325011 fronts sister units as 1M01 06:04 Sheildmuir RMT-Willesden Railnet. A loco on the front would have been nice, but at least the working was recorded. First we have 321422. 19th December 2008 66024 with the 6A51 10:40 Coventry Prologis-Wembley. A freightliner had only just gone north, and I almost didn`t even bother with this shot to be honest. Long Buckby, 19th December 2008 90045 with an early running 4L75 11:44 Crewe BH-Felixstowe. 19th December 2008 My first venture out for 11 days, so even a normal 350/1 desiro was to be photographed! 350123 passes Church Brampton on the 30th of December 2008 One on the new units, 350236 then passes. Due to work commitments, and also several days of dire weather, it wasn`t until the 11th of November until I captured my first railway photograph for the month!!! In the last of the light at Grange Farm, Northampton is 66413 which is working 4M71 11:25 Tilbury-Crick. At this rate, I just may end up with three photos before December............ Still no sightings of the new 350/2 desiro units. One of the originals, 350109, is seen at Barby Nortoft as it makes its way south. 13th November 2008 ...........and moments later, 90047 in good light (but a poor load) with an early running 4L75 11:44 Crewe BH-Felixstowe. 12th November 2008. The 18th of November 2008, and I was hoping to get one of the new 350/2 Desiros on test today, but it seems that the test runs were cancelled yet again. Here`s one of the older units, 350124 which is heading north past Church Brampton. I came here for the 6H50 Willesden-Tunstead, but yet again, it was running considerably late. The sun was getting too low, and was only just on for 66533 which heads 4M88 08:49 Felixstowe-Crewe. Church Brampton 18th November 2008. My luck isn`t getting any better..... I popped out to get 37712 with the Queen of Scots rake, and all I got was this Desiro unit, despite waiting for a good hour and a half!!! The location is Long Buckby on the 24th November 2008. The new livery for these units was revealed just over a year ago on the 12th of November 2007. All the 350 desiros are now in the new colours, but I`m yet to photograph one of the new 350/2 units operating under their own power...... The Isle of Wight Steam railway is home to two lovely little terriers, and an 'O2' locomotive, but they are all currently out of service. On the 27th of October 2008, passenger duties were in the hands of saddle tank 'Waggoner' The ex War Department locomotive is passing Ashey Ground crossing as it makes it`s way to Smallbrook. 'Waggoner' approaches Whitefield crossing. 27th October 2008 Since my last visit to the Island, at least two of these ex-underground trains have lost their unique 'dinosaur' livery, and are now sporting 'London Transport' livery. Nothing against this, but perhaps not entirely suited to the units environment..... Anyway, this is 483004 which is photograpjhed on the approach to Ryde. 27th October 2008 Another unit painted since last year is 483008. It is seen here passing Rosemary Lane as it makes its way to Shanklin on the 27th of October 2008. 'Waggoner' was also in action on the 28th of October. There was also 4 opportunities to photograph the Northern Belle stock behind an EWS 67, as it made an ECS working from Crewe-Northampton Castle, and then heading back north on a circular charter. The first ECS working had obviously worked early, so I missed that, and was in the wrong place for the outward working. My only hope was the return working back to Northampton, as I felt it would have been too dark for the ECS back north...... Of course, there was plenty of other action to photograph inbeteween, including a brace of 86 workings to keep me more than happy! Running about an hour down, 92034 passes Watfoird village as it works 6O60 00:15 Mossend-Dollands Moor on the 10th of October 2008. A couple of the wagons at least show some signs of silver........ 'Medite' 66709 is hired in to cover for the Fastline grids. Again, no postings, despite the rarity of such a loco on the working...... 66709 approaches Long Buckby with 4O90 13:36 Birch Coppice-Thamesport on the 10th of October 2008. The Grids are obviously more appealing on this train, but I do feel it`s important to record anything out of the norm, such as this....... With little clouds being as annoying as an annoying cloud could possibly be (ruining my shot of 86259 and the previous engineers) it was nice to see 86604 and 86613 beat a cloud to the line (but only just) with 4L75 11:44 Crewe-Felixstowe. Long Buckby, 8th October 2008 I`ve tried this spot literally dozens of times for the Fastline Grid, but for some reason, never seem to have much luck. Late running, poor loads, or those dreaded clouds have seen be trudge back to my car sulking many times! However, today was as good as it could get, on-time, a good load, and no clouds (a big grey one had literally cleared the sun by a matter of seconds!!!!) Anyway, enough of me being happy for once - this is 4O90 13:36 Birch Coppice-Thamesport. 8th October 2008 90041 catches the last of the sun at Watford village as it works 4L92 14:03 Ditton-Felixstowe. 8th October 2008 In the early hours, a Pendolino heads north at Whilton Locks, Northamptonshire. 9th October 2008. Anyway, the fred enjoys the sun as it passes Grange farm on the outskirts of Northampton. 21st October 2008 At least I finally managed a cloud-free shot here of 6H50 13:10 Willesden-Tunstead, which was running very late. It is passing Grange Farm, Northampton, on the 21st of October 2008. 60005 is the motive power. As the sun was getting on it`s knees, 66425 leads the RHTT past Grange farm with the RHTT. I had planned on getting the train crossing the viaduct, but felt that the effects of the water cannon spray would be lost. But, as can be seen here, nothing would have been lost anyway! Freight on this line is very rare these days, so any photographs of such workings have to be taken. I could think of over a dozen locations I`d have preferred to have taken these, but as I had 'popped out' of a meeting at Crick, I had to settle for this nearby location. 66720 with the 4M23 Felixstowe-Hams Hall, again avoiding Northampton on the 4th of September 2008. Today it was photographed near Blisworth, Northamptonshire. Shortly after the 4M23, 90016 approaches Blisworth with the 4M87 Felixstowe-Trafford Park. 4th September 2008. Loco haulage on the 1G21 Euston-Brum is back, after several weeks absence. 90019 makes a pleasant appearance on the working, and is recorded passing Barby Nortoft on the 11th of September 2008. An 86 would be nice, but 90046 has got to be better than a 66 working the 4L57 Dirft(Crick)-Tilbury. After giving up waiting for the 4O90 Fastline Grid, I decided to pop over to Watford gap to hopefully snap the class 90 loco-hauled Euston-Brum service. Alas, nothing showed, but to make my effort seem worthwhile, here is a test shot. The boring subject happens to be 390008. And another test-shot while waiting for the Skoda. 390039 sports a slight livery variation. Fascinating stuff......... 66301 passes Wormleighton crossing, Claydon, Oxfordshire with the first working of the 6M90 Avonmouth-Ratcliffe. I had 3 locations in mind for this shot, but opted for this location as I though Kings Sutton would be too busy, and I was worried about it getting too dark over at Hatton. Maybe I`ll try another spot next weekend...... A closer shot of 66301 on the 6M90 Avonmouth-Ratcliffe working passing Claydon. The curves of the track combined with the trees are forgiving when cutting off the rear part of the train, but it was a shame with this working as it was quite a good length which isn`t evident with this shot. 60077 was an unexpected surprise on the 6B30 Mountsorrel-Northampton on the 25th of September 2008. It is seen approaching Long Buckby. This was also fortunate as I was waiting to see what may be on the 4O90 today (nothing shown) and was about to give up. She could do with washing her face in a rather large bowl of soapy water...... Returning from Euston, 37602 heads the 1Q18 for the return working back to Crewe, and is seen at Watford village on the 7th of August 2008. 4L92 Ditton-Felixstowe would often provide a pair of 86`s, but this is now very rare. On the 7th of August 2008, the working was in the hands of a singular 86, this of course being 86501! The good old lass is seen approaching Long Buckby, and about right on time. 375809 starts to slow as it approaches Birchington on the 9th of August 2008. The 12th of August 2008 offered very few breaks in the clouds, but there was one for 66727 as it works the 4M23 Felixstowe-Hams Hall. Towards the end of August, we went for a long weekend away In Bruges, Belgium. The weather was pretty awful for the first three days, but on the final day, things improved significantly, although railway photography wasn`t at the top of the agenda. However, on our journey home back to St.Pancras, a short time was spent recording a few workings at Brussels Midi, although the sun wasn`t at the best position at this point! During this period, the laying of new trackwork will be completed, and the area is to be resignalled, so it`s goodbye to the remaining semaphores, and to the Pelham Street signalbox..... 323213 passes Barby Nortoft as the unit makes its way to Wolverton works for refurbishment. 1st July 2008. 86501 is the motive power for the 4L75 Crewe BH-Felixstowe on the 1st day of July 2008. The train is photographed passing Barby Nortoft. On the 1st of July 2008, 90041 heads the late running 4M87 Felixstowe-Trafford Park, and is seen here approaching Church Brampton. Having got the inward 323 unit to Wolverton, I was determined to also capture the unit returning to Soho. However, things didn`t go to plan, and I only ended up watching 4 good freight workings head south, including 2 fastline grids. All I got was this lousy dusty bin, this one being 321406 as it heads away from Long Buckby on the 1st of July 2008. 86637 is one of now only 2 Freightliner 86`s to retain the old grey livery. It is seen here partnering 86607 on the 4L75 Crewe BH-Felixstowe as they pass Barby Nortoft on the 3rd of July 2008. After spending almost 2 hours in this field waiting for trains which were nowhere to be seen, I had to photograph something to maintain my sanity, even if it is a desiro unit! 350106 is starting to slow for it`s scheduled stop at Long Buckby on the 3rd of July 2008 It`s the 8th of July 2008, and it`s another visit to a little used location at Roade. I came here for the sole purpose of capturing the 323 unit move to Wolverton works. Whilst waiting patiently, I decided to photograph some Dusty bins which are set to be replaced by a new series of Desiro units later in 2008. This is 321425 heading to Euston. Unfortunately, the 323 move never happened, and due to my over persistence with the unit move, I missed the tug on the 6H50 which was passing Ashton as I arrived in a glorious patch of sunshine! I must stop waiting 'one more minute' for such trains! Not an ideal location for long freights, but as the sun was out for a few minutes, 66125 was photographed working the 6A51 Coventry-Wembley. This train is normally quite a length, but on the 8th of July 2008, it was much shorter than usual, and is 'almost' captured in its entirety in this shot! I saw plenty of these 350 desiro units today, including this one - 350125 in new London Midland colours, which is seen heading south at Roade. There can`t be many left in the original colours now. 8th July 2008 321422 rushes south. Roade. 8th July 2008 66580 passes Roade with the 4L57 Crick-Tilbury trip. 8th July 2008. Annoyed at watching the tug pass at Ashton, I almost went home in a strop, but I pulled myself together, and drove over to Gordons lodge. Plenty of those nasty tilting things passed under the sun, as did 321412 and 321410 which are seen heading south. 8th July 2008. Well, with the bad luck I had today (and infact all month!) I wasn`t going to bother with the 5Z47 Euston-Crewe, but I thought I couldn`t be that unlucky all of the time, and after all, I had nothing to lose! The skies at Watford village were the best I`d seen all day, and I was lucky enough to capture 57601 in the sun. 8th July 2008 Running almost an hour and a half down, 57310 is hauling 390046, and is seen passing Church Brampton on the 13th of July 2008. This is the 1B14 Wolverhampton-Euston. The 14th of July started off with glorious unspoilt blue sky. However, whilst I was waiting here at Weedon for the 1M16 Inverness-Euston sleeper, a thick cloud front was slowly making it`s way south, and unfortunately, the edges of the clouds just bit away at too much sun to spoil this shot. I almost trashed it, but I guess its better than having no shot at all. Anyway, this is 90039, and it seems that I may only have one or 2 more chances here this year before the shadows start getting too long again. Oh well....... I`m not happy with this shot either! This was not my location of choice, but whilst waiting at that location, workmen arrived who may have obscured the shot, so I had little time to get anywhwere decent, so decided on this shot near Murcott. 47832, 47501 and 47802 are seen heading north on a Wembley-Crewe move. 15th July 2008. When I took this photo, I thought I had been 'clouded' but it seems I managed to capture the sun by a fraction of a second before it was eaten away by the clouds, so I guess I should stop being so miserable!! 390041 passes Watford Gap on the 16th of July 2008. Waiting at Stowe tunnel at 6:30 in the morning is all very well when it`s a beautiful clear sky, and a sleeper is due shortly. However, when the sleeper is diverted via the ECML, the situation turns to frustration!! Still, here`s nasty tilting thing bumber 3, just for the records. Typically, this was the best morning of my three visits here this year! A few more days left to try again, then it`s off until next June....... A meeting on Friday evening meant that Thursday the 24th of July 2008 was the last chance for at least 3 weeks I would get to photograph the 1G21, and how disappointed I was to see some nasty plastic. Watford Gap, 24th July 2008. 43048 heads the EMT liveried HST set past Irthlingborough Road, Wellingborough. 25th July 2008 222018. This service is now shelved for three weeks, so let`s hope it continues later in August....... I always prefer to capture an EWS locomotive on the working, rather than the WSMR liveried machines. However, I would have preferred the locomotive at the rear of the train to be at the front on this occasion, as it was royal liveried 67006! I popped over to Wilsons crossing to capture a few freights in the sun, but nothing seemed to go to plan, having just missed two northbound workings, then having arguments with another passing train and a cloud! However, 350104 was at least photographed as it heads north out of Northampton. 1st July 2008 66728 works the 4M23 Felixstowe-Hams Hall. Easenhall, 29th July 2008 86628 and 86610 are seen on the old 'fast' at Easenhall, but infact, the train is crawling at a snails pace as it prepares to stop to allow a nasty tilting thing to pass on the 'new' fast. Anyway, this is the 4M88 Felixstowe-Crewe on the 29th of July 2008 60009 works the 6H50 Willesden-Tunstead, and is seen running on what used to be the Brinklow loop at Easenhall. Not quite the Tractor I was after, but I guess a Combine Harvester will have to do!!! It`s the 30th of July 2008, and 37423 was set to visit the Northampton loop with an observation car, but it turns out that no-one wanted to talk to the mentioned class 37, as it was only sent to Coventry! Anyway, here`s 66082 as it works the 6A15 Bescot-Forders. 90047 heads the 4L75 Crewe BH-Felixstowe. As I parked near Watford village, I could hear a train passing, but by the time I reached my spot, 66592 turned up within seconds working the 4L57 Dirft-Tilbury. I later found out that the train I missed was a pair of 86`s on the Crewe-Felixstowe. I was not happy! 10th June 2008 However, I was hoping to capture a 323 move from Soho-Wolverton works, and the 8th of June produced the desired result. This is 323217 passing Watford village. A sad line-up of un-used (but not un-loved) class 87`s at Long Marston, 8th June 2008 87002 looked stunning repainted in BR blue and having her original jumper cables and boxes fitted. 66574 heads the 4L57 Crick-Tilbury woirking past Church Brampton on the 4th of June 2008. Both the 6A51 and the 4L75 also passed, but at the same time as a cloud.........So, as I took the effort to take the photo of this working in the sun, here it is! The 5Z65 Crewe-Northampton was around an hour late by the time it passed Church Brampton, and by this time, the position of the sun (when not blocked by the many floating clouds) was past it`s prime, but I`m not Grumbling! The 1J81 London Marleybone-Wrexham is scheduled to run via Hatton instead of Coventry, and on the 6th of May 2008, this is recorded. 67025 is leading the train, with 67013 at the rear. 66102 passes Shustoke on the 6th of May 2008. At the time, I thought this was the 6G21 Stud-Farm Bescot which was supposed to be headed by 60044. I assumed a change of motive power had taken place, took this photo, and left 10 minutes or so later. I since found out that 6G21 did run with 60044! I have since found out that this is the 6K99 Mountsorrel-Crewe, which runs on an 'as required' basis............ 66166 with the 6V92 Corby-Margam is photographed at Shustoke on the 6th of May 2008. Where are those tugs when you want one? Running several hours late, 66595 heads the 6M66 Immingham-Rugeley, and passes Lea Marston on the 6th of May 2008 66104 with the 6K50 Toton-Crewe?? 6th May 2008 66530 passes Whitacre on the 6th of May 2008. By the time I arrived, this train would have normally passed, but good fortune saw the working running slightly late, and thus I was able to get the shot. The sun was quite 'milky' but I thought it worth taking the photo all the same! Working as the 4Z75 Wembley-Doncaster, 66430 hauls 7 new Fastline hoppers past Great Brington on the 10th of May 2008. To say that the appearance of the hoppers was very dull would be an understatement! 350118 passes Great Brington on th 10th of May 2008. Well, it could be the last time I photograph this unit in its original livery.....!? Working as the 4H17 Wembley-Trafford Park, 90019 passes Great Brington with 90026 and 92042 in the consist. 10th May 2008. Despite being cleared a couple of years ago, the growth of trees and Bushes at Harbury is making it almost impossible to photograph. (The once excellent south-bound shot has long been lost!) I took this limited shot of 165023 as it may be the last time for 15 years or so, or maybe forever!! 12th May 2008 168111 works its way through Harbury Cutting on the 12th of May 2008. After leaving my afternoon meeting, news came in that more signalling problems on the WCML resulted in 323207 being held at Northampton. With this in mind, I rushed over to Milton Malsor in an attempt to get the unit twice in a day. As it happened, I didn`t quite get there in time, and probably only missed it by a matter of minutes.... There`s nothing special about this working, but when I see it at Hatton, there`s either no sun, the train is lightly loaded, and sometimes, both of those! I didn`t plan to visit Shilton today, but armies of orange jackets at other locations left me with little choice! As the sun was out, here is 390017 as it passes Shilton. 4th March 2008. 66727 works the 4M23 Felixstowe-Hams Hall. Shilton, 4th March 2008. It turned out of course that it went via the Northampton loop! Whilst I was patiently waiting at Brockhall, 350124 makes its way to Birmingham...... ...........And when the sun re-appeared, 90042 (with 86609 dit) also appeared working a delayed 4M88 Felixstowe-Crewe. The Great Eastern class 360 units are also being debranded, so I also photographed some of these during the 2 hour spell. Unfortunately there were lots of clouds around, and as a result, not everything was snapped at! I was not at all keen when I first seen this livery, but I do think it suits these units very well. 90013 still sported its 'Refresher' bars on the 1st of March 2008. I did, however, take my usual position at the bridge later in the day, but no freights decided to show until I had given up and walked back to my car. Oh well, there`s always another day!!! Unfortunately, as I was making my way down the muddy towpath, 4 freights passed including the Silver bullets which were running a good couple of hours early!!!!! If Only I`d have been a minute or two earlier, then I may have produced a photograph. Knowing that I had missed the bullets, I decided to stay a while and to make the muddy walk seem more worthwhile! One final shot of a NXEC set, this one fronted by DVT 82223 as it passes Biggleswade. 17th February 2008. We then went to Hatton South where I hoped to capture the 4O21 which didn`t show last weekend. This weekend was no different. Oh well. As I was here and the sun was back out, I decided to wait the extra hour for the next freightliner working. In the meantime, 168219 is photographed as it heads south. 2nd February. 220034 heads south at Hatton on the 2nd of February 2008. The long shadow is being cast by one of the OLE masts. These units are receiving their new liveries fast, so I`m getting them in their old gusies whilst they are still about. The train is photographed near Long Buckby on the 18th of February 2008. A once familiar sight that is fading fast on the Northampton loop is a class 350 Desiro unit in original livery. The new liveries are being rapidly applied, but they haven`t got to 350109 yet which is photographed approaching Long Buckby on the 18th of February 2008. Looking lost under the wires at Long Buckby is 168004. This unit is making it`s way to Wolverton for refurbishment. 18th February 2008 Approaching Long Buckby on the 18th of February is 66723 with the 4L22 Hams Hall-Felixstowe working. As I was in the area, I decided to pop to Kings Sutton to see if there was any sign of the Wrexham & Shropshire training runs. Alas, nothing was showing. However, while I was here I was going to photograph something, so here is 165030 making it`s way to Marylebone on the 19th of February 2008. The frozen vegetation had started to thaw by this time. 66504 passes Kings Sutton with the 4E44 Millbrook-Leeds on the 19th of February 2008. 66502 approaches Kings Sutton whilst working the 4O27 Ditton-Southampton. 19th February 2008. 165130 heads north at Kings Sutton on the 19th of February 2008. 165026 is seen at Kings Sutton with a service to Stratford-upon-Avon. 19th February 2008. 67002 with the 'Musical Lunch' Northern Belle seen approaching Church Brampton after picking up from Northampton. Here, 60009 pulls into the loop at Elford. This is the 6M57 Lindsey-Kingsbury bogie tanks. 1st February 2008. Another shot of 60009 entering the loop, this shot taken after a quick dash to the top of the road bridge. I saw 47237 earlier on in the day with a stock move to Barrow Hill, but due to the lposition of the sun, did not photograph the train. Howver, the sun was at least right for the return light engine move. Elford, 1st February 2008. Just another unit, this one being 170108. But as I`ve mentioned alsewhere recently, I`ll take a few photos while they are in this 'temporary' bradned livery. Elford, 1st February 2008. 60095 passes Elford with the 6E41 Westerleigh-Lindsey empty bogie tanks. 1st of February 2008. Now, I hadn`t seen this before! 2 meridians (222011 and 222020) were pulled up in the loop at Elford on the 1st of February 2008. This wa spossibly something to do with the collapsed footbridge at Barrow upon Soar? After a while spent in the loop, 222011 and 222020 make their way South....... Elford, 1st of February 2008. 60100 powers the 6Z96 Ironbridge PS-Lindsey tanks on the 1st of February 2008. The location is Elford. I was still waiting for 66617 to leave the loop when I had to endure a hail storm for ten minutes. After the strom passed, it then bagan to snow! During the falling snow, 66019 appraoches with 6E79 Wolves Steel Terminal-Scunthorpe. Elford, 1st February 2008.

]]> Fri Feb 1 2008 Three 'Sevens' are One Hundred and Two! http://jasonrodhouse.fotopic.net/c1450868.html On the 31st of January, the final move of 87002, 87022 and 87028 from Wembley-Long Marston took place. The 3 class 87`s previously travelled up as far as Worcester, which is where todays journey began. I decided not to go for the initial working, as I felt it would be too sad to see these fine machines not doing what they did best. However, I decided to make the trip to Evesham today to catch them being dragged to storage. I`ll always have fond memories of these locomotives. These three locomotives have collectively put in 102 years of stirling service on our rails, and could easily be putting in many years more service if it wasn`t for those nasty tilting things........... I presume these will be removed by members of the group at Long Marston who are working on 86401 which is currently housed at the site. The consist was then held in the station for a while until the path was cleared. Despite the shadows, I decided it would be foolish not to take a photograph, just for the records! 31st January 2008. This effort will certainly win no prizes, but I couldn`t resist one final shot of the 'sevens' as they are dragged on their way to their new temporary home at Long Marston. I can only hope they have good times ahead in Bulgaria!

390016 passes Barby Nortoft on the WCML on a sunny morning. 16th January 2008 On the 16th of January 2008, 66516 is in charge of the 4O35 Crewe BH-Southampton freightliner. 92030 'Ashford' is the motive power for todays 6G62 Crick (DIRFT)-Bescot. 16th January 2008. Whilst waiting for a much delayed 4L93, I decided to snap 321428 as it makes its way south past Barby Nortoft, 16th January 2008. A change of location to Crick North Tunnel, and the 4L93 Lawley Street-Felixstowe finally turns up with 66538 in charge. 16th January 2008. A new service is the 4L57 Crick (sorry, DIRFT)-Tlibury. Here it is leaving DIRFT on the 16th of January 2008. ............and another shot of 66539 on the 4L57 Dirft-Tilbury. 16th January 2008 A nice surprise on the 16th of January 2008 was the use of 60500 on the Bescot-Forders. Here it is as it approaches Crick North Tunnel. After waiting for an hour or so for some freight which didn`t show, I decided to make my way back to the car. The original Network Southeast livery which these units originally carried is now extinct, as the purple fever takes over........... 313031 is paired with 313040, and are photographed as they slow for Potters Bar. 12th January 2008. 67002 speeds down the ECML towards Potters Bar on the 12th of January 2008. The working was the 5G06 11.37 Peterborough-Bounds Green Thunderbird training run. The shadows by this time had started to get a little troublesome. 365509 and 365503 approach Potters Bar on the fast line. 12th January 2008. Despite being dressed in pink and purple, 365515 is all smiles as it passes Brookmans Park on the way to the capital. 12th January 2008. A station I have driven past, and even walked past dozens of times is Hayes in Kent, yet I had never paid the station a visit! On the morning of the 13th of January 2008, I decided to pop in and photograph something! After only a few minutes waiting, 465011 arrives at platform 2. 465011 which had arrived at the staion only a few minutes ago, now forms the 11:37 to Charing Cross. Hayes, 13th January 2008. On Wednesday the 24th of January 2008, the 4O35 Crewe BH-Southampton is in the hands of 66573. The train is pictured passing Church Brampton. 66614 is seen approaching Long Buckby on the Northampton loop. This engineers train is believed to be the 6Y90 Basford Hall-Rugby, although the working seems to have passed Rugby by a few miles at this point......? 24th January 2008 90043 approaches Long Buckby on the 24th of January 2008. This is the 4L75 Crewe BH-Felixstowe. As more and more of the Class 350 units are being re-decorated into the London Midland livery, I thought I`d capture 350110 in its original guise. It is seen approaching Long Buckby on the 25th of January 2008. 66619 approaches Long Buckby with a rake of spoil wagons. 25th January 2008. A shed is standing in for a Class 92 again, this time it`s 66162 on the 4A10 Trafford Park-Wembley on the 25th of January 2008. This is probably the lightest load I have ever seen for this working...... 168218 and 165037 pass Hatton South on the 26th of January 2008. Passing Hatton South are a brace of Chiltern units, these being 165002 and 165039. The date is the 26th of January 2008. Although still sporting Virgin livery, 220026 now wears Arrivas 'Cross-Country' vinyls. This is Hatton South. 26th January 2008. 165015 is paired with a 168/2, and they are seen passing Hatton South on the 26th of Janaury 2008 After giving up on the two freights I had come to photograph, I packed away the camera and returned to the car. Needless to say, the 4O02 Lawley Street-Southampton decided to turn up, about an hour down. A quick dash to the bridge with the compact at least captured the working, although this is not the composition I would have settled for. As it happens, I`m now glad it was photographed this way, as the new signal wrapped up in the blue sheeting is also included, which may distract somewhat, but it`s a piece of history that has now been recorded! 26th January 2008. The location is Hatton South. 91116 is seen speeding towards Sandy Station on the 27th of January 2008. 82207 leads this Kings Cross bound train through Sandy station on the 27th of January 2008. Running in the region of 10 minutes late, 86101 heads through Sandy with the 5G02 Doncaster-Bounds Green ECS working. 27th January 2008

Another undated shot (Although records will emerge one day!) This is 37114 approaching Inverness. The weather had been very bad, and was just starting to clear when the train arrived.(*Direct scan from original print.) 37063 was photographed at Derby with a short rake of 3 hopper wagons. Unfortunatley I did not record the date on the photograph....... (*Direct scan from original print.) 37086 is photographed at Peterborough Station. Far from an ideal shot, but I doubt I cared too much at the time. The class 08 and the newspaper van in the background adds some further interest. (*Direct scan from original print.) 37193 is seen at Nottingham stabling point. The only date I recorded was 1984 - so not very specific! I can`t remember what it was now, but there was a large 'silver' pipe here that ran above ground level. Can anyone else recall this? (*Direct scan from original print.) During the 1980`s, many depots were visited, and with that came numerous depot shots. This one is 37183 at Haymarket in 1984. I will have noted the exact date somewhere............ (Just not on the back of this photo!) (*Direct scan from original print.) This shot was taken at March Depot, and features 31135 (on the left) and 31522. The date was the 2nd of September 1992. (*Direct scan from original print.) 47484 is seen at Old Oak Common depot on the 7th of October 1990. (*Direct scan from original print.) 47122 was photographed at Cambridge sometime in the very early 1980`s. (*Direct scan from original print.) Nothing spectacular this one, just a taken for granted class 03 at Swansea Landore. Alas, no date recorded here either.......... (*Direct scan from original print.) Another scene from the early 1980`s, and such a typical shot at the time. If I was to take this shot today, more care would have been taken with the composition. Anyway, this is 27034 at Glasgow Central. (*Direct scan from original print.) Stored class 83`s photographed at Longsight depot, Manchester. I can recall also photographing class 82`s on my previous visit, but they don`t seem to be evident in this view, which is guessed to be around 1983. (*Direct scan from original print.) This picture of a doomed class 81 really is gloomy. This photograph was taken within the confines of Crewe Works. Notes the numerous holes in the building which are letting in small beams of light. I have no idea which class member this is, or even when I took the photograph. Sorry! (*Direct scan from original print.) Another one of those 'Photograph what you`ve just bashed, and get the next train quick' jobs! 86238 is seen here at London Liverpool Street. Note the redevelopement of the station, which would date this photograph around 1985...... (*Direct scan from original print.) A HST fronted by 43096 races past Loughborough, sometime in the early 1980s. (*Direct scan from original print.) 50005 'Collingwood' photographed at the buffers at London Waterloo. The 'Electron and BBC micro user show' gives the date away somewhat. (*Direct scan from original print.) During the period of this photograph, my attentions had well and truly turned to video, and photography became limited to trains I was about to board, or had just got off, as is the case here. 50030 'Repulse' having deposited me at Basingstoke on the 8th June 1991. (*Direct scan from original print.) 56072 and a couple of classmates at Coalville depot. (*Direct scan from original print.) Another depot often visited was Leicester, and here we are on the 2nd of June 1991. 56103 is one of the locomotives which was photographed on that day. (*Direct scan from original print.) A poor photo, but it makes an interesting comparison to the shot of 86238 taken from a similar position. This was taken on the 19th of July 1983. (*Direct scan from original print.) Also doomed is this class 119 DMU which was photographed at Old Oak Common. 7th October 1990. (*Direct scan from original print.) This shot, taken in 1985 is of some class 116 DMU`s stabled at Leamington Spa. Only the track on the left now remains, as everthing else is now under a car-park. (*Direct scan from original print.) Not a great photo, but typical of so many station photographs I used to take, This is Didcot, and the main subject is a pair of class 104 units. Unfortunately, I didn`t note the unit numbers, or even the date, apart from 'Easter, 1983'...... (*Direct scan from original print.) This is Tinsley Yard on the 2nd of June 1991. 150132 is working the 10:49 Bedford to Bletchley service, and is seen at Lidlington. 1st December 2007 150125 is seen again at Lidlington, returning with the 11:49 Bedford-Bletchley service. 1st December 2007 86609 and 86610 are seen heading south past Milton Malsor on the 3rd of December 2007. They are working the 4L97 Trafford Park-Felixstowe freightliner. 66060 passes Watford village whilst working the 6A51 Coventry Prologis-Wembley working, consisting of empty cargowagons. 5th December 2007 350126 heads towards Long Buckby on the 5th of December 2007. I wonder how long this unit will retain this livery, which has been altered by having some of the grey extended to the front windows.......... But on one side only??? This is apparently an area which has been repaired, after being damaged by the wind-screen wipers. Many such modifications are currently being undertaken at Kings Heath depot. 66107 rounds the bend at Watford village on the 5th of December 2007. This working is the 6A15 Bescot-Forers departmental. 90028 passes Gayton on the 11th of December 2007. This is the 1Z30 Willesden-Shieldmuir extra mail service. 390002 heads to London Euston, and is seen in the dying light at Easenhall. 11th December 2007. 90028 approaches Stowe tunnel as it works the 1Z30 Willesden-Shieldmuir on the 12th of December 2007. Another variation of the hybrid Virgin/Arriva Livery is seen here on 221124. The white stripe separating the red and silver has completely gone. The unit is seen passing Bradnock's Marsh on the 12th of December 2007. 66576 approaches Barby Nortoft on the 13th of December 2007. This is the 4L93 Lawley Street-Felixstowe freightliner working. 321436 passes Barby Nortoft on the 13th of December 2007. 90028 speeds through Barby Nortoft while working the 1Z30 Willesden-Shieldmuir on the 13th of December 2007. 90026, hauling the 1Z30 Willesden-Shieldmuir, emerges from the freezing fog at Blisworth on the 20th of December 2007. 150125 approaches Lidlington with the 10:59 Bletchley-Bedford service. 1st December 2007 150132 returns to Bedford with the 11:57 service from Bletchley. It is seen here approaching Lidlington on the 1st of December 2007.

Now stripped of its 'Silverlink' brandings, 321422 passes Church Brampton on its way to Northampton. 30th November 2007 87028 'Lord President' makes a pleasant sight at Church Brampton as it works the 1M85 Shieldmuir-Willesden mail. 30th November 2007 350120 heads north past Church Brampton on the 30th of November 2007. It`s a case of getting these units in this livery while you can! Apart from some of the logo which was obviously stubborn to remove, 91117 and its rake are now adorned in the unusual 'white-stripe' interim livery. Offord Cluny, 30th November 2007 91112 speeds past Offord Cluny on the 30th of November 2007. The 30th of November 2007 was to see 86101 and a short rake of Mk3`s on test as the 1Z86 Bounds Green to Doncaster, in preperation to being used by Hull Trains. Here it is seen passing Offord Cluny, not long before the train was to terminate prematurely due to a problem with one of the coaches..... 87022 is at the rear of the train. 87022 on the rear of the 1Z86 at Offord Cluny. The dark blue of the seven clashes somewhat with the BR blue stock! 30th November 2007.

A de-branded voyager is photographed at Lea Marston on the 2nd of November 2007. 170501. Lea Marston, 2nd November 2007. Another de-branded voyager, this time 220021. Lea Marston, 2nd November 2007. 66952 with an unknown working at Lea Marston, 2nd November 2007. 47703 with re-engined HST power cars 43192 and 43037 passes Lea Marston on the 2nd of November 2007. This is the 5Z46 Loughborough-Landore working. 158813 in it`s Hybrid livery approaches Lea Marston. 2nd November 2007 On the 5th of November 2007, 90021 is once again on the 1G21 London Euston-Birmingham New Street service. The location is Rugby again, but I`ve gone for a slightly different angle this time............. 168215 prepares to stop at Hatton station. 6th November 2007 66117 works the 4M33 Southampton-Burton on Trent intermodal working up Hatton Bank. 6th November 2007 220016 heads north at Hatton Bank. 6th November 2007 168218 passes Hatton. 6th November 2007 On the 6th of November 2007, 168110 is seen climbing Hatton Bank 168001 heads south, and is seen at Hatton Bank. 6th November 2007. The headlights on this particular unit appear to be held in position with copious amounts of cellotape! 221123 approaches Long Buckby on the 12th of November 2007. I`ve got a feeling this is the first time I`ve bothered to photograph one of these terrible trains on this section of line..... Displaying its new livery which was unveiled today, 350102 approaches Long Buckby with the 12:45 Birmingham to Euston service. 12th of November 2007 In contrast to the new livery on 350102, 350121 is seen here displaying the original colours, although this is one of the units which lost some of it`s yellow 'wrap-rounds' in recent weeks. 12th November 2007 On the 14th of November, 90016 carries 'One' liveried 90015 along with 90047 as it heads north with the 4M88 Felixstowe-Crewe. The location is Brinklow Loop, Easenhall. 66541 passes Barby Nortoft with the 4L93 Lawley Street-Felixstowe. 15th November 2007. The 15th of November 2007 sees the 4O35 Crewe BH-Southampton freightliner in the hands of 66588. It is seen passing Barby Nortoft De-branded silverlink unit 321405 is photographed at Barby Nortoft on the 15th of November 2007. Next stop will be Long Buckby. For the second time in a week, 350102 is photographed as it approaches Long Buckby. This is almost identical to the shot I took earlier in the week, but I like the clouds better in this one!!! 15th November 2007 325007 is paired with 325005, and they are seen approaching Long Buckby working the 1A32 Warrington RMT-Willesden. 15th November 2007. 86501 (with 66504 dit) is photographed as it approaches Long Buckby. This is the 4L75 Crewe Basford Hall-Felixstowe. 15th November 2007 I rarely publish multiple shots of the same train, but I felt this one was deserving! Here`s a closer shot of 86501 in charge of the 4L75 Crewe Basford Hall-Felixstowe freightliner on the 15th of November 2007. The frost had cleared by the time the 4L97 Trafford Park-Felixstowe passed Milton Malsor on the 16th of November 2007. I often pop to this particular location to capture this working alone, and it was made all the better as today it was fronted by 86501........ The weather was much improved the following morning, although we are now at Banbury. 165013 slows for the station on the 19th of November 2007. Shortly before the rain clouds appeared and were to stay for the remainder of the day, 221119 approaches Banbury on the 19th of November 2007. 92019 passes Watford village as it works the 4H24 Wembley-Trafford Park intermodal. 22nd November 2007. On the 22nd of November 2007, 350102 is seen passing Watford village on its way to its next stop at Long Buckby 321424 passes Barby Nortoft with a southbound service. 29th November 2007 It could be the 4L93 working, but I believe this to be the 4O35 Crewe BH-Southampton freightliner. Whichever working it was, it was a pleasant change to see a 57 back on the Northampton loop. 57003, with scars evident where its nameplates have been removed, is photographed at Barby Nortoft on the 29th of November 2007. About 20 minutes later, 66533 passed with what seemed to be a late running 4L93. Another 'Dusty bin' passes Barby Nortoft, this time set number 430. 29th November 2007 On Thursday afternoon on the 29th of November 2007, 325005, 325017 and 325006 approach Long Buckby with the 1A32 Warrington-Willesden mail. 37410 awaits departure from Northampton Castle on the final leg of the 'Silverlink Swansong' tour on the 3rd of November 2007. 37417 is on the rear. Having arrived at Northampton on the 3rd of November 2007 to photograph the 37s on the 'Silverlink Swansong' tour, I thought it would be fitting to include a shot of silverlinks 321418. It appears that this is in eight car formation, but in fact, the unit in the background would shortly depart, and 321418 would follow a short while later. These units are soon to be replaced with a further batch of 350 units. Although I much prefer the 350 units, I shall miss the 321`s, especially when they are needed to add a splash of colour............ 390026 is seen heading north at Blisworth on the 11th of November 2007.

On the 4th of October 2007, 92024 hauls the 4A10 Trafford Park-Wembley past Crick. 66714 heads the 4L22 Hams-Hall to Felixstowe, and is seen passing Crick on the 4th of October 2007. 90041 passes Crick on the 4th of October 2007. This is the 4M88 Felixstowe-Crewe. 66428, running about 20 minutes late, passes Cathiron on the 5th of October 2007. This is the 4Z39 Coatbridge-Crick..... sorry, Daventry. 66097 heads south past Watford Village with an engineers train. 5th October 2007. On the 14th of October, 90039 approaches Bugbrooke with the 1K02 London Euston-Crewe service. 350115 heads to Euston, and is seen passing Milton Malsor on a clear morning. 19th October 2007 90044 passes Milton Malsor on the 19th of October 2007, as is works the 4L97 Trafford Park-Felixstowe. 66112 with an engineers train. 20th October 2007 After arriving at Eastleigh, the train then went round the back at Eastleigh works, and here is 35028 this time fronting the train. 20th October 2007. A final shot of 35028 at Eastleigh. 20th October 2007. 350125 heads to London Euston, and is seen rushing past Easenhall on the 29th of October 2007. On the 30th of October 2007, I made a morning visit to Hatton South Junction, with the hope of getting a photo of the 4054 Leeds-Southampton Freightliner. However, I didn`t realise I was as low on petrol as I was, so a quick stop at the filling station probably resulted in missing the working! As I was here, I took this photo of 221136 which is heading south. Well, maybe the freightliner was running late......... After watching 168215 pass, I decided to move on. Hatton South Junction, 30th October 2007 Not my usual shot at Cathiron, but I thought I`d capture what few leaves were left on the trees on the left. Most of the leaves can be seen near to the inner-most track, which has been relaid after almost 20 years absence, but is yet to see traffic as yet. This photo features 66417 which is working the 4Z34 Coatbridge-Dirft. 31st October 2007 LMS 'Black 5' 45407 heads north past Cathiron with the 5Z54 Old Oak-Castleton move. This was running about three hours behind schedule??? 31st October 2007 A second shot of 45407 as it passes Cathiron on the 31st of October 2007 A quick visit to Easenhall resulted in seeing 90049 on front of the 4M81 Felixstowe-Ditton freightliner. 31st October 2007 86101 is seen working the 1Z86 'Atomic Harbour Master' south of Northampton, 20th October 2007. he only reason I popped over to Cathiron today was because I was feeling lucky at Capturing 86501 on the 4L75 Crewe-Felixstowe, and as I had no prior knowledge, I was delighted when it appeared in the distance. This working is usually handled by a class 90, but it has been 86 hauled on a few occasions just lately. 31st October 2007

It had been a few years since I last took photos from this location, and the bushes had grown too much for my liking. However, as I had made the trek, I was going to take my photos all the same. Seen passing Fenny Compton is 66591 which is working the 4M61 Southampton-Trafford Park. 4th September 2007 60082 works the 6E55 Theale-Lindsey past Fenny Compton on the 4th of September 2007 90034 with the 1G21 London Euston-Birmingham New Street passes Brockhall on the 5th of September 2007. On the 7th of September 2007, 66720 is in charge of the 4L22 Hams Hall-Felixstowe. The train is seen near Long Buckby. 66574 with the 4L90 Hams Hall-Felixstowe approaches Long Buckby. 7th September 2007. 92005 approaches Long Buckby. 7th September 2007. 168109 passes Great Bourton on the 10th of September 2007. 220005, displaying no number at this end, is caught passing Great Bourton as it ventures south. 10th September 2007. 221105 is seen at Banbury on the 12th of September 2007 Me and my shadow!! This particular unit seems to follow me everywhere, at least when I visit this line! 168109 slows for its stop at Banbury. 12th September 2007. 220005 is seen on the apporach to Banbury. The date is the 12th of September 2007. Hurrah! No Ying-ying today! 86604 and 86637 make a welcome sight on the 4L92 Ditton-Felixstowe. The train is seen passing Crick on the 12th of September 2007. 350126 and another Desiro unit make their way to London Euston, and are seen here passing Briar Hill shortly after departing Northampton Castle. 15th September 2007. Under a dark sky, 86627 and 86639 approach Long Buckby as they work the 4L92 Ditton-Felixstowe on the 21st of September 2007. On the 27th of September, 86627 and 86639 are again on the 4L92 Ditton-Felixstowe. They are photographed passing Church Brampton. 47802 heads the 1Z32 Euston-Carlisle past Grange Farm, Northampton on the 29th of September 2007. The light was far from perfect, although the conditions were a lot better than yesterdays 1Z30 working! 90020 approaches Milton Keynes with the 1K02 13:14 Euston to Crewe, and is photographed at Redmoor on Sunday the 30th of September 2007 On the 13th of September 2007, 86604 and 86637 are paired up again for the 4L92 Ditton-Felixstowe. They are seen approaching Long Buckby on the Northampton loop.

A second spell was also spent 'chasing the drags' on the following Monday around the Daw Mill area, although the sun wasn`t as kind, and I soon gave up...... Sunday 26 August 2007: As the sun was shining on Sunday, I made a short vist to Whitacre Junction, Shustoke, and then Daw Mill to get some Wolverhampton Drags before the diversions end. A second spell was also spent 'chasing the drags' on the following Monday around the Daw Mill area, although the sun wasn`t as kind, and I soon gave up......

First up, at Whitacre Junction, 57303 heads south hauling 390031. 26th August 2007. I had literally just missed 'The Mole' going in the opposite direction as I arrived...... 170636 heads towards Birmingham. Whitacre Junction, 26th August 2007 57306 is seen dragging 390005 through Whitacre Junction. 26th August 2007 And before I go, one in the opposite direction. This is 57304 hauling 390017. 26th August 2007 Moments later, 390040 is dragged north by 57302. Shustoke, 26th August 2007 57306 hauls a proper Virgin rake, which includes 90039 in the formation. I believe it`s the first time this loco has fronted this working since.............. Oh, what a nasty thought. Anyway, the scene is Dodford on the 8th of August 2007 The 10th of August 2007 sees 66718 working the 4M23 Felixstowe-Hams Hall. It is seen passing a sunny Cathiron. 90048 is in charge of the 4M88 Felixstowe-Crewe on the 10th of August 2007. The location is Cathiron. Another shed, but at least this one was expected. This is the 6X82 Wembley-Washwood Heath, and is seen making its way north past Cathiron on the 10th of August 2007 66504 passes Cathiron as it works the 4L90 Hams Hall-Felixstowe. 10th August 2007 This is 4M87 Felixstowe-Trafford Park. I am usually disappointed when this is worked by a class 90 (Instead of 86501) But another shed..... Things are getting duller than dull now..... Cathiron 10th August 2007 66517 heads north at Cathiron with an unknown working. 10th August 2007 On the 29th of August 2007, 350108 paired with 350117 pass Milton Malsor with a morning service to the Capital.

Lady Alexandra departs! And no, it`s not a kettle! It`s a little diesel Hydraulic dressed up as a kettle! Out to get the Tug on the 6E55 again. I think I had better give up. The 60 looked more and more like not turning up, so I just had to take a photo of something! Here`s 168003 passing Claydon. 1st of June 2007. I have since been informed that the tug was running early again, and had only just missed it! 66540 passes the reservoir crossing at Claydon, 1st June 2007. This is the 4M61 Southampton-Trafford park Freightliner working. At least it turned up I suppose..... The 1G21 Euston-Brum is back in the capable hands of 90018. test264 surprisingly, this one took less time! Whilst working in Warwick, I popped over to Old Milverton to have my lunch, and to hopefully catch a Freightliner working, which, unfortunately didn`t show. At the height of activity, here`s 221118 with a service to Bournemouth, 1st March 2007. Well - I had to take a photograph of SOMETHING!! The sun went, as did all hope of catching the 90 this morning. Maybe it took the Northampton loop, or even cancelled? Clifton road, 29th May 2007 I even tried zooming in to capture the sun................. Clo*ds!!!!! And again!!!!!!!!!!! Another shot to be assigned to the rubbish bin!!!! Yep.................. 86`s are about again! Yep!!! Not a cloud in the sky at all, except this nasty long strip, which appeared just before the 6H50!!!, and once it appeared, refused to go away until I was half way home! Just when I thought my luck was changing............ Bar stewards!!!! What`s the point in this??? 60074 with the 6E48 Didcot-Lindsey is photographed as it approaches Whitnash on the 5th of May 2008. The train was about to be bowled by a chiltern unit, hence this effort.
